Many clients ask us about “green building” or “sustainable designs” as they consider how they can make new construction or renovation of existing buildings energy efficient, productive, and environmentally appropriate. When working with these clients, we find it very useful to introduce the concept of “integrated design” in order to develop high performance buildings. We feel that focusing on the program goal, that of creating high performance buildings, better characterizes the true and lasting value of this concept.
