The 2009 Honda CR-V: Are You Ready to Cross Over?
The 2009 Honda CR-V is curvy, revved up and versatile.

If comfort, reliability, value and safety are at the top of your list when searching for a crossover, look no further than the 2009 Honda CR-V. Once you see the award-winning 2009 Honda CR-V, you’ll be crossing the competition off your list.

The Honda CR-V can be whatever kind of crossover you need. It can seat five for a daily drive, and it can fit in lots of cargo. Load it up and you’re ready to roll. With an MSRP starting at just $21,245 (plus $710 destination charge), you don’t have to be rolling in dough to make it yours.

The 2009 Honda CR-V comes in three trim levels, LX, EX and EX-L. The CR-V is powered by a four-cylinder 2.4-liter i-VTEC engine coupled with a five-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. This combination produces 166 hp at 5,600 rpm and 161 lb/ft of torque at 4,200 rpm. Each trim is available with either front-wheel or “real time” active four-wheel drive. CR-Vs with two-wheel drive received an EPA-estimated fuel efficiency rating of 20 mpg city and 27 mpg highway. Four-wheel drive models are also rated at 20 mpg city and received an equally impressive highway rating of 26 mpg.

On the road, the Honda CR-V is the crossover you can count on. It received a “10 out of 10” reliability rating from J.D Power and Associates, a testament to the CR-V’s great track record. Its body style and precisely tuned suspension give the CR-V a sedan-like feel on the road that is confident and responsive. The CR-V employs numerous safety features that earned it the title of “Top Safety Pick for 2009” from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Its safety components include an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) impact-absorbing body frame and side-impact door beams, passenger position sensing two-stage, front side airbags, side-curtain airbags and four-wheel ABS disc brakes.

Once you get into the 2009 CR-V, you’ll appreciate features like remote keyless entry, armrests and rear headrests, as well as cruise control and stability control that are standard on all trims. The cabin of the CR-V is comfortable and spacious with a low-luster interior offset by bright chrome-like accents for a cool, contemporary feel. The backseat is adjustable with a reclining feature. The rear seat design offers a host of configuration possibilities for cargo carrying, thanks to its foldable 40/60-split bench and innovative 40/20/40-split seatbacks. When collapsed, these seats allow you to expand from 35.7 cubic feet of cargo room to a full 72.9 cubic feet.

The LX and EX trims offer smooth cloth upholstery while the EX-L sports leather and includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The LX and EX trims also feature a center stowable tray table in front. The EX upgrades the CD/MP3 stereo sound system to include a six-CD changer with steering wheel-mounted audio controls and adds extra storage options with a removable shelf for the trunk. The EX-L adds a front-center console and a premium audio package that features satellite radio and a powerful subwoofer. The EX-L also offers an optional voice-recognizing satellite navigation system, which can read digital music downloads!

The exterior of the CR-V is decidedly stylish with smooth curves, glimmering multi-reflector headlamps and sporty black-clad accents. A distinctive front grille gets the added glow of chrome in the EX and EX-L trims. With a length of 177.9 inches and a width of 71.6 inches, the CR-V is a trimmer, more solid crossover. Its height of 66.1 inches allows easier entry and exit.

The CR-V rides on 17-inch wheels that are steel on the LX and alloy on the EX and EX-L trims. The EX trim sports deep-tinted rear windows and a power moonroof. Power folding mirrors are standard on all trims with the added luxury of heating on the EX-L. You don’t have to be a bodybuilder to operate the CR-V’s lightweight tailgate; it’s a cinch to open and maneuver.

In the 2009 Honda CR-V, you can take to the road with confidence. No matter where you start or finish, when you’re behind the wheel of the 2009 Honda CR-V, you know you’re driving a winner.
