Just one look at the 2010 Honda Insight and you will see this car has appeal. It has style and cutting-edge hybrid technology. It’s sporty, smart, super efficient and way ahead of the curve. Take the wheel and take it for a spin. You’ll be glad you did.
The 2010 Honda Insight is a sleek, compact, four-door gas-electric hybrid hatchback ready to steer you onto a new course with an abundance of options and eco-friendly features that will help you get the most power out of the least amount of fuel. With the 2010 Insight, going green also means going far and fast. With an MSRP starting at just $19,800 (plus $710 destination charge) and phenomenal fuel economy, you won’t just save the planet, you’ll save a lot of gas money, too.
The 2010 Honda Insight is available in two front-wheel drive trim levels, LX and EX. The Insight comes equipped with state-of-the-art dynamic technology under the hood. Both trims use an i-VTEC four-cylinder 1.3-liter full-time hybrid engine featuring an “integrated motor assist” (IMA) system to provide electric power. The engine is coupled to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) for even greater fuel efficiency and “get up and go.” This winning combination of gasoline engine and CVT produces 98 hp at 5,800 rpm and 123 lb/ft of torque at 1,000 rpm. The electric IMA motor provides an additional 13 hp at 1,500 rpm and 58 lb/ft of torque at 1,000 rpm. The 2009 Honda Insight goes a long, long way on a little fuel. It received an impressive estimated fuel economy rating of 40 mpg city and 43 mpg highway.
In addition to its intelligent hybrid engine design, the 2010 Honda Insight also tunes into its energy needs and fuel efficiency with two new innovations – “Eco-Assist” and the “Econ” button. Eco Assist allows you to gain perspective on the vehicle’s fuel usage through a feedback display system that assesses current and projected fuel usage and provides pointers on how to reduce it, displaying different goal levels to attain. The “Econ” button switches the Insight into an “economy” mode, conserving energy by reducing idle and throttle, minimizing excessive air conditioning or heat in the cabin and increasing the power storage reserve with extra regenerative braking.
Standard features on the LX include keyless remote entry, an information display center and an MP3/CD/AM/FM stereo. The EX trim adds convenience and enhanced performance items like steering wheel-mounted paddleshifters and cruise control, as well as an upgraded six-speaker system. The EX trim also adds stability control and offers an optional Navigation Package, which includes a voice-activated satellite navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity and USB interface.
The Insight doesn’t cut corners; on the road, its responsive and powerful handling takes corners in stride. An Edmunds reviewer put it best, proclaiming, “The 2010 Honda Insight feels more nimble and put together than other hybrids.” Indeed, it is a well-made “green” machine.
The 2010 Insight’s interior environment is modern, comfortable and practical with room for five passengers and 15.9 cubic feet of cargo space to boot. The Insight also features a foldable split bench seat in the rear, which collapses to provide an available 31.5 cubic feet of total cargo room. Whatever you like to take with you is easily loaded and unloaded through the hatchback.
On the outside, the Insight is all about style. It makes an impression with its streamlined design, accented by chrome-bezeled headlamps, tinted windows and LED brakelights – so they’ll see you stopping, and stop to look. At a length of 172.3 inches and a width of 66.7 inches, it’s compact enough that you can sneak into that last parking spot with ease.
The LX trim gets rolling on 15-inch covered steel wheels while the EX sports 15-inch aluminum alloy wheels and adds heated side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators.
The Insight also looks out for your safety with features such as side-impact doorposts, and an Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body frame structure that absorbs and distributes impact, even if the collision is with a larger vehicle. Antilock front disc brakes, dual-phase front airbags, front side airbags with “occupant detection” and side-curtain airbags are also standard equipment.
Get into a new 2010 Honda Insight and set your sights on a better road ahead.
