The sun is out, school is out and you and your family are looking for places to go and things to do. Start by exploring your own neighborhood. You’ll be surprised at what you’ll discover. Here are some ideas to get you started.
Make a splash at Water Wizz. Thrills – and spills – can be had at the giant waterslides that take you through corners and dips until you make a huge splash in the pool at the end. Race your friends and family down the 50-foot-high Super Speed Slides that send you rocketing to the pool below. For the little kids, there’s the Little Dipper, which offers some kid-friendly twists and turns. If the slides aren’t enough, head across the street to the beach – there’s no better way to spend a hot summer day. Water Wizz is located near Misquamicut Beach in Westerly, Rhode Island. Head north for your water fix. Maine’s Aquaboggan Water Park delivers the fun with plenty of activities. Bump and bounce your friends with the Bumpin’ Boats, or grab a tube and get ready to twist and turn on the tube run. There are a lot of slides to choose from – from the 45-foot-tall hydro half pipe known as Stealth 5 to the three Pipelines slides. You’re guaranteed a good time. Make waves in the Wave Pool or see if you can make it to the top of the Aquasaucer, a water-soaked dome that you climb with a rope. There’s even mini golf and go-carts for those who need a break from the water! Aquaboggan Water Park is located at 980 Portland Road in Saco, Maine. New Hampshire has a beautiful beach, and it’s indoors. We’re referring to Kahuna Laguna, New England’s first indoor water park. There are more than 40,000 square feet of splash-tacular fun – from high-speed tubes to body surfing and even water basketball and volleyball. Kahuna Laguna serves up the fun. Families can hang out in the activity pool that features water cannons and play towers, and younger children can play in the shallow pool. The fun doesn’t stop at the water. There’s the Aloha Arcade and the Tiki Tide Café. Kahuna Laguna is located at Red Jacket Mountain View Resort, 2251 White Mountain Highway (Route 16) in North Conway, New Hampshire. No summer would be complete without a trip to the beach. Head to Ocean Beach Park, a white sugar-sand beach where you can relax on the shore, walk along the boardwalk or take a dip in the Atlantic Ocean. The park also features an Olympic-size freshwater pool, a mini golf course and other attractions like the triple waterslide, spray park, carousel and Nature Walk. When you want to munch on delicious food beachside, just stop at the Sandbar Café and Lounge. Ocean Beach Park is located in New London, Connecticut.
