Summer Interns at the Museum
The SC Confederate Relic Room & Military Museum is fortunate to have six interns and one graduate assistant this summer working in various museum departments:
Erika Sellers is a History major from USC. She is working on updating our collection records in Re:Discovery collections management software. These computerized records are stored on a server off-site to preserve them in case of disaster.
Catherine Stieglitz is a History major from Colby College in Maine. Starting late in June, she will be helping with the Re:Discovery data entry project. She will also assist in the AASLH survey the museum is conducting this summer.
Kara Wilmoski, a M.A.T. English student at USC, provided assistance to Curator of Education Joe Long in executing an education plan that successfully drew more students, teachers, and tours into the museum during the 2007-2008 school year. In conjunction with Long’s efforts to develop more museum-supported resources for teachers, Wilmoski wrote a lesson plan connecting the new “Forgotten Stories: SC Fights the Great War” exhibit with popular classroom study of All Quiet on the Western Front, which is available on the museum website. Wilmoski will continue to work through the summer, helping Long and the museum to create a new education plan for the 2008-2009 school year.
Liam Carney is interning in the Library and Archives this summer through a course at the University of South Carolina. Liam grew up in Washington D.C. He is a rising senior at USC and is pursuing a B.A. in history with a minor in anthropology. His main research interest is in ancient history. Liam is exploring different career options with a history major, including public history.
Trimease King is a graduate student in Social Work at The University of South Carolina. She will be completing an internship here this summer. Her duties will include working with the museum's Write from the Front Program and helping with museum's front desk.
Katie Keenan is a senior at Clemson University studying history and business administration. Originally from Columbia, she is here this summer interning mainly for Curator of History Krissy Dunn Johnson and also in PR and marketing with Jai Cassidy Shaiman. In the Library and Archives, she is helping to research the early establishment of the museum.
Leslie McElveen is a History major at Columbia College. She is helping with everyday museum duties and administering our AASLH visitor surveys. She will also organize older curatorial files and will work in behind-the-scenes collections management.
