New Bargain Calendar Company Formed

A new company has been created to sell discounted calendars and will be called The Bargain Calendar Company. The company will operate out of Knoxville, TN and is owned by Mayco, LLC.

“We looked at getting into the bargain calendar business about 8 years ago but just couldn’t work it out," said Larry May, who along with his wife Valerie own the new venture. “Selling discounted calendars fits so well with everything else that we do in the bargain industry that it just made sense.”(For more, click on 'full story' below.)

Avedis Joins Craven Closeouts

Jack Craven, CEO of Craven Closeouts, is proud to announce that Michael Avedis has joined the Craven Closeouts team as a Senior Buyer. 

Michael was previously Vice President of Acquisitions and Sales for Marketing Resources, Inc. and worked with that organization for over 30 years out of their New York offices.

GABBS Boston Dates Set and More...

GABBS Atlanta Registration is now open

GABBS Atlanta Registration is now open for the St. Patrick’s Day Weekend show, March 16-18. Formally known as the Spring Book Show, GABBS Atlanta will be at the Cobb Galleria adjoining host hotel, the Renaissance Waverly. New this year are ‘close-out” corridors for bookstores with more sidelines. “We are excited about two new corridors to the year’s show," said Larry May, show director, “the Gift Corridor and the Close Out Corridor. We are working hard to help booksellers increase their sales with these items,” May said. SIBA, the Southern Independent Booksellers Alliance, will host the Educational Seminars. GABBS Boston Dates Announced

GABBS Boston 2012 will be August 1-2, according to Show Director, Larry May. We just finalized the dates and also a new host hotel, the Marriot, with lower room pricing.” NEIBA, New England Independent Booksellers Association is slated to host the Educational Seminars this year. MIBA and GLiBA Regional Shows to Hold Joint Show

The Midwest Booksellers Association and the Great Lakes Booksellers Association have officially announced that the two regional bookseller organizations are co-hosting one regional trade show this year and in 2013. The joint show, which is being called the Heartland Fall Forum, will be held October 3-5, 2012 at the Renaissance Hotel in the historic Milwaukee Road train depot in Minneapolis.
