"Toto! We're Not in GWCC Anymore!"
The Atlanta Hilton will host this year’s Spring Book Show!
Due to the tornado damage to the Georgia World Congress Center, the show has moved to the Atlanta Hilton, the show’s host hotel.
Hail? Yes! We are having a show!" declared Larry May, show owner, coming back from a day of intensive meetings to Atlanta! He and his staff added a plethora of slogans for the new venue - the Atlanta Hilton: "Twist your way into savings! - A Tornado of a Sale! We're not in Kansas (GWCC) anymore. - It's Over the Rainbow - Follow the Yellow Brick Road! You Gotta Have Heart!"
“We are pretty pleased with how everything is coming together and how everyone from hotel staff, to vendors and attendees are pitching in to make this happen. We hammered this out in a 6 hour meeting yesterday at the Hilton and we are ready to go!" May added.
“The plus side to this move is that the show will be under the same roof as most of the attendees, said Cathie Eargle, show coordinator. The Show is definitely on and will take place in the Hilton’s Galleria Exhibit Hall and the Grand Ballroom West, she explained. The Educational Seminars and the Writer/Publishers Seminars all are slotted in the Salon levels rooms.
The GWCC suffered extensive damage in both Hall A and B and has moved its two biggest shows to Hall C. Downtown Atlanta was bombarded with storms and tornadoes last weekend - which not only damaged the GWCC, but also the Georgia Dome, Phillips Arena, the Omni Hotel and several other buildings. All are already under repair.
The Spring Book Show, with all vendors present, will have great product, a Friday night reception, lots of door prizes, educational seminars and a great atmosphere. “It’s not too late to sign up and come,” Eargle added.
