“The Spring Book Show has sold out for a second time,” says Cathie Eargle, show coordinator. “We had already sold out the show in January, and then we received the news from Kudzu that they were closing. Well, they had reserved 20 tables and it put us at quite a deficit. Last Issue we visited the choice that customers and retailers had in payment methods: The changes that have occurred over the past several decades and the costs that have been associated with those changes for both the ultimate customer and the retailer. This is no minor issue as the costs associated on the retail side in percentages can make the difference between profit and loss. In addition, however the lack of flexibility to change for the customer's benefit could make a huge difference in where customers place their loyalty based upon their reason for selecting a payment method.
