His Strictly-By-the-Book, Inc. has grown tremendously since then, putting Bredmehl at the head of the class as a children’s book remainder wholesaler and retailer. No one knows exactly when the term first appeared, but the belief was held by the ancient Egyptians that exposing one’s head to the moon could cause craziness. Also, the goddesses of the moon in early Greek and Roman times, Selene and Luna, were believed to be capable of affecting the brains of mortals.  Lunatic, which comes from the Latin and means crazy, was derived from Luna, the Roman Moon Goddess.
