*BUSINESS DAY means Monday thru Friday, excluding weekends and holidays;

*HOLIDAYS
generally means New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas  Day.  Holidays observed vary by carrier so if there is a question, it is best to check with the individual carrier(s);

*SITE
means a particular city, town, or other area which is treated as a unit for the application of line haul rates;

*TRAFFIC HANDLED DIRECT
means the product is shipped via only one transportation company;

*LTL
generally refers to a shipment weighing less than 7,500 lbs. and 6 standard skids or less;

*VOLUME
shipments are typically shipments weighing more that 7,500 lbs. but less than 20,000 lbs;

*TL
refers to a truck load shipment generally weighing over 20,000 and up to 40,000 lbs;

*PUP
in terms of freight, is not a cute, fuzzy animal!  It means a trailer not exceeding 29’ in length;

*COLLECT SHIPMENT
means the freight charges and any accessorial charges are to be paid by the consignee (receiver) at the time of delivery;

*DENSITY
, where the shipping rate is determined due to the density of the product being shipped, means “pounds per cubic foot”.
