Baldor Linear Motor is a Huge Success at St. Louis Plant!

Baldor’s St. Louis, MO stamping plant made a part retriever using a Baldor enclosed linear motor stage and a Baldor MintDrive II AC Servo control. The retreiver removes lamination blanks for 5000, 5800, 6800, and 7200 frame motors from a stamping press.

Before the retreiver, the blanks were removed from the press by hand. This required single stroking the press and produced only 12 parts per minute. The retriever allows the press to be run in continuous mode at up to 40 parts per minute.

Performance, Performance, and More Performance

Machine design engineers know the importance of performance.  Baldor Electric is no exception when it comes to performance and quality. Traditional stator assembly would take up to a day and a half. Baldor now builds a stator in just 20 minutes! That's a great product improvement!

Fast, accurate motion is accomplished by using six Baldor BSM servomotors, six Baldor FlexDrive controls to provide power; and one Baldor NextMovePCI motion control card to coordinate the motion.

Baldor installed six winders in the commercial motor production area. Besides reducing production time to 20 minutes, the combination of Baldor’s servomotors, drives and motion controls provide the following:
     Performance - increased machine throughput
     Accuracy – improved part consistency
     Quality – improved winding consistency
Less Maintenance – reduced, thus obtaining cost savings
Process – improved for less part rejects

Baldor Motors Power Treadmills Mile After Flawless Mile!

Since 1997, Baldor motors have driven several treadmills at Fort Smith, AR’s Marvin Altman Fitness Center, a state-of-the-art health and fitness facility with 5000 members. In a December 19, 2003 letter to Baldor’s Chairman, Rollie Boreham, Marvin Altman Sales Manager, Don Ridgley, says these motors are performing very admirably under tough duty, which is near-continuous duty, six days a week. The treadmills have an average of over 60,000 miles of usage with zero Baldor failures!!
