      Baldor Delivers Solutions

Baldor delivers the solution to a leading automotive airbag manufacturer Automotive Safety Components International (ASCI) to help them ramp up production for the fast-growing curtain-bag market. Curtain-bags cover car side windows for protection in a rollover. When designing the automated gluing machine, ASCI wanted it to operate directly from CAD drawings of airbags provided by various auto manufacturers.

Baldor provided the complete solution with the new MintNC software operating on the NextMovePCI motion controller, three FlexDriveII and three BSM servo motors. Baldor's new MintNC PC-based software imports information in industry-standard CAD formats - including G-code, HPGL and DXF - and generates the required real-time motion commands.

The resulting ASCI machine imports airbag drawings, runs a script to turn the drawing lines into a time- and movement-efficient path, and then streams the resulting motion commands to the motion controller. The simple and easy way to a solution.

Baldor Announces MicroFlex, Brushless AC Servo Control

The new MicroFlex digital servo drive from Baldor marks a new step in the evolution of cost effective system design, without sacrificing performance. The ‘state of the art’ control is an ideal solution to brushless AC servo control, for rotary and linear motors. MicroFlex is ideally matched to Baldor’s range of brushless high performance rotary servomotors and linear motors.

MicroFlex provides a simple industry standard analog command interface. Its encoder output easily interfaces to motion controllers and PLCs alike. An additional 5V step and direction interface makes MicroFlex an ideal package for stepper drive replacement in both new and retrofit applications.

      Showdown with Destruction

Hurricane Isabel turned the lights out on thousands of people in September. As the storm was grinding north through the Mid-Atlantic States, Baldor’s advanced preparation kept many families and businesses with power despite the numerous outages.Baldor Distributors in the Mid-Atlantic region were well prepared for Hurricane Isabel.  Everyone at Baldor was busy taking care of customers.  Hurricane Isabel will go down in history as one of the most destructive in recent years and everyone has their own unique story to tell.

"Many lives have been affected by Hurricane Isabel," said Randy Breaux, VP of Marketing. "We are proud of the services provided by the Baldor district offices before Isabel made landfall and during the rebuilding effort occurring now.”  “A good job was done by all of the Baldor employees and district office personnel. We are happy to have helped so many people."
