In March of this year Baldor unveiled a new strategic tool called ProSPEC.  Baldor ProSPEC is a tool for specifying and consulting engineers.  It provides up-to-date technical information and education to help make application, specifying, and buying recommendations with confidence. 

Baldor Electric Company CEO, John McFarland, commissioned a project team to reduce energy consumption and improve procurement of energy throughout the company.  For Baldor’s Westville, Oklahoma Plant the target was set at $100,000 annual savings.  Baldor installed a series of diesel generator sets designed for standby power and for load shedding in cooperation with the local utility, Ozarks Electric Cooperative. Also, these units provide power to critical loads in the event of a power outage.  

Bottom line “By the end of August 2002, Westville had managed to reduce the peak demand to 965 kW from 1728 kW in 2001.  After the first six months $45,000 has been saved which puts the Westville plant on track for their targeted $100,000 annual savings. ”
