Special Registration Required for Certain Nationals
Males from 18 countries must comply

Nationals or citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, and Syria must register with the Immigration and Naturalization Service by December 16, 2002 IF they are:

(1) a male who was born on or before November 15, 1986;

(2) was inspected by the Immigration and Naturalization Service and was last admitted to the United States as a nonimmigrant on or before September 10, 2002; and

(3) Will remain in the United States at least until December 16, 2002.

If you meet this criteria, you must appear before an immigration officer to:

(1) Answer questions under oath before an immigration officer, which answers shall be recorded by the immigration officer;

(2) Present to such immigration officer:

(i) your travel documents, including passport and the Form I-94 issued upon admission, and any other forms of government-issued identification;

(ii) your Proof of residence, such as, but not limited to, title to land or a lease or a rental agreement, proof of matriculation at an educational institution, and proof of employment; and

(iii) any other information as is requested by the immigration officer.

In addition, you will be fingerprinted and photographed by the immigration officer.

You must also register annually after your initial registration and report any changes of address within 10 days on the form AR-11.

Special registration is NOT required for permanent residents, persons holding A or G visas, persons who applied for asylum before November 10, 2002, and persons who have been granted asylum.

Nationals or citizen of Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Eritrea, Lebanon, Morocco, North Korea, Oman, Qatar, Somalia, Tunisia, United Arab Emirates, or Yemen must register IF they:

(1) a male who was born on or before December 2, 1986;
(2) weres inspected by the Immigration
and Naturalization Service and was last admitted to the United States as a nonimmigrant on or before September 30, 2002; and
(3) Will remain in the United States at least until January 10,
2003.

The same documentary requirements and procedures for special registration apply as described above for nationals of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Sudan, and Syria.

Dual citizens of any of the designated countries must also register.
