Real-life benefits of Office file sharing

Here are some real-life applications where business users have made their lives easier and improved their results using MS Office sharing:

The Sales Manager

John R. leads a team of six inside sales reps. Each rep updates their sales funnel data in an Excel spreadsheet for reporting purposes. Using BadBlue in a private network, every couple of hours John searches for their latest spreadsheets and reviews the live data in his browser. Using the Excel update feature, John is also able to update individual cells, post questions about certain accounts and run the business more effectively.

The Developer

Greg C. is a developer in a corporate IT organization. He has been asked to collect data from several spreadsheets and databases which are maintained by different people in the company. But... not only must he collect the data, he needs to interpret it and aggregate it into a single report. Using BadBlue, Greg creates a simple PHP script that goes out to each PC, has it render each spreadsheet and database into HTML (which is much easier for him to interpret), and then sums up all of the data into a master file which he displays as either an HTML report for management or a CSV (comma-separated values) file for later import into Excel. With only a few hours expended, Greg looks like a hero to management.

The Para-Legal

Debbie J. works in a midsized law office. One of her many roles is to keep recent briefs available on the internal network for quick review by the partners and associates. Using BadBlue, she lets the attorneys search her PC for documents by title... and then view the live copies in their browsers. This saves time and effort as the attorneys can find and view files easily, without having to overload their PC's with multiple copies of open Word documents. Viewing the briefs in their browsers is much faster and easier.

More on instant sharing of Office files...

The problem: your colleagues need to see the spreadsheet that's stuck on your PC... or you need to see the spreadsheet that's sitting on someone else's machine. Either way the solution is simple: BadBlue. Users simply install it, mark the spreadsheet as a shared file and colleagues surf to the PC... viewing live Excel data (or Word documents and even Access databases) directly in their browsers!

Readers don't even need copies of Access, Excel or Word... BadBlue EE can render the files into HTML in 'real time'. Users need only their browsers to see up-to-the-minute data that's on your PC.
