Magirus kein IBM- und HP-Distributor mehr
Dick Borsboom | As seen in ChannelPartner, Germany -- Gestern sind sich die beiden Value Added Distributoren einig geworden und haben den Vertrag unterzeichnet: Magirus verkauft Enterprise Infrastructure Division (EID; Jahresumsatz: eine halbe Milliarde Dollar) an Avnet.
Mit diesem Verkauf konzentriert sich Magirus auf seine Enterprise Solution Division (ESD) und die IT-Advisory Group (ITAG), also auf die Segmente Security, Storage (nur noch EMC), Open Source und System-Management (Backup und Netzwerke).
Nach der Akquise des Security-Distributors Allasso ist der Verkauf der kompletten Enterprise Infrastructure Division ein logischer Schritt für Magirus. Damit geht Magirus` gesamtes Geschäft mit Server- und Storage-Systemen, Software und Services von HP und IBM in den Deutschland, Österreich, Schweiz, Großbritannien, Italien, Dänemark, Schweden und im nahen Osten in die Hände von Avnet über.
Die Akquisition ist für Anfang Oktober 2007 geplant und abhängig von der Zustimmung der Kartellbehörden. Insgesamt werden etwa 140 Magirus-Mitarbeiter der Enterprise Infrastructure Division aus Vertrieb, Einkauf und Marketing durch Avnet übernommen.
Nach diesem Verkauf möchte Magirus als Distributor von komplexen IT-Lösungen wahrgenommen werden. Fabian von Kuenheim, Vorsitzender des Vorstandes der Magirus AG, kommentiert den Verkauf: "Wir haben schaon immer schnell auf wechselnde Technologietrends und neue Geschäftsmodelle reagiert. Der Verkauf unserer erfolgreichen Enterprise Infrastruktur Division aus einer Position der Stärke setzt Mittel- und Managementkapazitäten für die neuen Wachstumsfelder frei und erlaubt es uns, den Fokus auf das rasch wachsende und erfolgreiches IT-Solution-Geschäft zu setzen. Dies beinhaltet auch weitere Akquisitionen, um das angestrebte Wachstum zu unterstützen. Zukünftig wird sich Magirus auf die Bereiche Security, Virtualisierung, Open Source, Storage, System und Information Lifecycle Management konzentrieren." In Zukunft will sich Magirus als führender Technologie- und Serviceanbieter im Markt positionieren.
Avnet-CEO Roy Vallee meint dazu: "Mit dieser Übernahme wird Avnet Technology Solutions zum größten Value-Add-Distributor für Enterprise-Lösungen in Europa."

Avnet erhält eine wesentlich breitere Reseller-Basis für das weitere Wachstum", ergänzt ATS-Chef Borsboom.
