When you have the right tools for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training – it can make the difference between life and death. Now this training will be a little easier in Lakeland, Florida thanks to a donation from the National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation (NADCF).

On Thursday, September 7, 2006, at 3:00 p.m., Citizens CPR, Inc. received four Little Anne Resusci® CPR Manikins donated by NADCF.

Danny Cannon, president of Cannon Automotive in Lakeland, said, “We are happy to expedite this presentation for a worthwhile program like Citizen CPR. Our dealer members around the state are gearing up to provide similar outreach programs to equip their communities with these valuable lifesaving tools.”

Cannon Automotive is a member in good standing of the statewide, Florida Automobile Dealers Assn. (FADA), and the National Automobile Dealers Assn., (NADA). Family-owned and operated for more than 40 years, the Cannon family is committed to serving the community and has been an inspiration not only to the public, but to its valued employees who will be offered the lifesaving training from Citizen CPR.

In receiving the CPR unit, which is essential to CPR training, Susan Barham, Executive Director of Citizen CPR, Inc., said “If the right kind of treatment can be given to an individual seconds after he or she is incapacitated from any type of heart attack, accident, or choking incident, the chances are good that their life can be saved. This CPR training teaches a person how to keep a victim’s heart beating while professional help is on the way. “

Citizen CPR, who has set a goal to instruct another 1,000 individuals with the donated units, has been teaching basic life support courses to public and private groups for more than twenty years. Their mission is “to reduce the risk of premature death and disability from cardiovascular diseases and sudden death events in Greater Polk County.” The donated CPR Manikin will give Citizen’s instructors the opportunity to offer more classes to the community and improve their CPR proficiency. Citizen CPR is committed to their continued public education programming for CPR lifesaving techniques.
