Vehicle Details: The 2012 Jeep® Grand Cherokee Awards
The Jeep® Grand Cherokee is the most awarded SUV of all time.

Since its introduction, the Jeep Grand Cherokee has provided buyers with an optimal balance of rugged, legitimate 4x4 capability and the every day driving luxury and comfort of a traditional SUV. It’s a combination that has made the Grand Cherokee one of the most popular SUVs available.

After a recent redesign, the Grand Cherokee has gone on to become the most awarded SUV of all time. The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee (MSRP $27,490) has collected more than 30 awards thanks to its exceptional quality, off-road capability, powerful engine options, safety, value, opulent interior and forward-looking design.

Count up the number of “Truck of the Year” awards the Jeep has received. AutoWeek gave the 2012 Grand Cherokee its “Best-of-the-Best – Truck Award” for the vehicle’s perfect balance of luxury car interior and best-in-class 4x4 capability, thanks to the legendary Quadra-Trac and Quadra-Drive four-wheel drive systems.

The Detroit News awarded the Grand Cherokee “Truck of the Year,” citing the fully redesigned and luxurious interior that is on par with the quality levels of more expensive European luxury SUVs. Soft-touch and richly textured materials throughout with leather-wrapped instrument panel and armrests, supportive, leather-upholstered seating, ventilated front seats and ample cargo room (35.1 cubic feet behind rear seats, 68.7 cubic feet with rear seats folded flat) are just some of the reasons the Grand Cherokee garnered this coveted award.

Popular Mechanics was impressed by the Grand Cherokee and its Selec-Terrain system, a dash-controlled, turn-dial system that works with an active two-speed transfer case and an electronically-controlled clutch pack for superior traction in all conditions. The Grand Cherokee performed so well off-road that Popular Mechanics placed the Grand Cherokee on its list of “Top 10 Cars of 2011.”

The Quadra-Lift air suspension system – which can lower the Grand Cherokee to as little as 6.6 inches off the ground and raise it to a best-in-class 10.7 inches of clearance for serious off-road jaunts – caught the attention of the editors at Four Wheeler magazine. The folks at Four Wheeler know a real 4x4 when they see it, and as a result of the SUV’s unmatched balance of pavement-friendliness and off-road capability, the Grand Cherokee was selected as “Four Wheeler of the Year.”

Ward’s magazine appointed the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine found in the Grand Cherokee to its prestigious “10 Best Engines” list for the fourth time. Ward’s has been continually impressed with the Pentastar’s optimal balance of power (290 hp, 260 lb/ft of torque), fuel economy (17 mpg city/23 mpg highway) and E85 FlexFuel capability. Paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, the Pentastar V6 delivers smooth, linear power. A Grand Cherokee with the 3.6-liter Pentastar has a best-in-class driving range of more than 500 miles.

For those seeking more power, the 2012 Grand Cherokee is available with a 360-hp 5.7-liter V8 that delivers best-in-class available horsepower. With 390 lb/ft of torque on tap, the 5.7-liter can tow up to 7,400 pounds.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee swept the safety awards podium, earning the prestigious Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) “Top Safety Pick” for 2012. The Grand Cherokee offers more than 45 safety features including a Safety Cage design with crumple zones to absorb impact energy, and door guard beams to protect occupants in side impacts. Every Grand Cherokee comes standard with Electronic Stability Control, four-wheel Anti-lock Braking System and a comprehensive airbag system that includes seat-mounted pelvic and thorax airbags.

There is no other SUV on the road today that can match the overall value offered by the 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. As proof, Consumers Digest awarded the 2012 Grand Cherokee a “Best Buy” for its exceptional value for money spent. The award is based on a vehicle’s purchase price and ownership costs and takes into consideration the vehicle’s performance, usability and overall comfort.

If the luxurious and capable 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee can win the continual accolades of industry experts, it will surely make an impression on anyone who steps inside one. Stop into our showroom today and experience the most highly acclaimed SUV of all time.
