Most people would love to customize their new cars, but feel that after buying the car they might not be able to afford a further investment. What about doing a bit of customizing from the extensive catalogue of manufacturer’s accessories and/or cool aftermarket items we offer?
You’ll have a hard time finding a completely stock Harley Davidson motorcycle because owners of this brand expect to add accessories and swap out original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts for custom pieces. Why not take that approach when you purchase your new car? It makes sense, doesn’t it? Make your new ride just right before you put a mile on it!
This is easier and more cost effective than you might think. First, all the carmakers are offering extensive accessory catalogues. In many instances, we can offer and install factory-authorized aftermarket gear. Rolling it into your initial purchase certainly makes sense, especially if you are taking advantage of incentive financing rates on your new vehicle.
Wheels and tires are an obvious swap, a move that does more to dress up the look of a new car than just about anything short of custom paint. Put the right chrome or alloy wheels on your new ride, and that swell of pride comes at no extra charge! While you are at it, the headlight and taillamp assemblies are probably begging to be customized, so take a look at what we can do for you in that area. How about a spoiler? If it’s offered as an option, it’s a no-brainer because it will match your vehicle’s OEM color precisely. If you go for an aftermarket spoiler, we can still help you out with a bit of work in our paint shop.
The same goes for what we call “body kits.” They are a relatively inexpensive way to significantly streamline the shape of a car, and they usually bolt on. Like aftermarket spoilers, body kits come finished in primer, so we’ll have to get it into the paint shop, but why not? Do your customization now! .
Moving right along, have you considered high quality vinyl stripes, designs and solids? The look you can get with some professionally installed vinyl kits is astounding. For some, it is as simple as adding a black matte shape to the hood to cut glare and add a cool racer effect. For others, a bit of pinstriping will add the subtle, yet expressive final touch. Others need to get creative and go all-out. Whatever you decide, we can help with an installation that’s done right.
The interior of a new car is perhaps the most underrated candidate for customization. This is surprising because you spend far more time in the cabin than gazing at the exterior of your baby. There are a lot of cosmetic touches that add glitz and glamour. For example, a dashboard kit can transform a nice looking plastic molding into a gleaming expanse of burl walnut or a high-tech swath of carbon fiber. Floor mats don’t get enough credit either. Feeling a cushiony soft, high quality carpet under your feet is a true luxury. Just ask the guy who drives a Rolls Royce!
Custom sound these days is almost de rigueur. Adding an amp, subwoofer and swapping in speakers to handle the additional power is a relatively small investment in customization with a large return in the form of pleasure (and value). We can also add rear-seat DVD entertainment systems, frequently mounting the monitors in a custom headrest or seatback. If you decided to forgo the in-dash navigation system, why not go with a portable one, custom mounted, of course.
We’re going to assume you are basically happy with the engine in your new car; however, there are custom moves that make sense under the hood. One that we highly recommend is an aftermarket air filter kit with a cold-air ram intake. It doesn’t cost much, and it results in improved engine “breathing,” something you can actually feel.
One last touch you may want to consider is a custom exhaust system. Whether you go for the sound, the look or both, there are many choices. A cat-back exhaust system, for example, is a way to add a bit of power and two chrome trumpets peeking out from under the bumper.
