The Times They’re a Changing
by Roy Stout, Board Chairman

During my acceptance speech when I was advocating changes for our organization, I had no idea that we would soon be saying goodbye to one of my all time favorites—the CMA News Bulletin. Since I began my career in the credit profession, I have always used the Bulletin as a resource for learning best practices and keeping tuned to upcoming events of interest. Although the format and most notably the delivery mechanism have changed over the last 20 plus years, the content was always solid, informative and entertaining. Like one of our favorite colleagues whose has retired from our field, I will miss the CMA News Bulletin. Farewell, old friend.

Now about this new kid on the block, CMA Daily News. I really like the ease of use of this publication. I see tremendous possibilities for the future of this media. It is so much more interactive. The immediate distribution of relevant events, facts and figures is so useful and so responsive. I think I have found a new best friend.

One such article was the piece in the CMA Daily News concerning CMA Business Credit Services selling a flight simulator on eBay. For us seasoned credit professionals, you must admit you probably never thought such a statement would have ever been made about our association. But it is this kind of innovative no holds barred thinking that is the heart of the future of our organization. Using the handy link embedded in the article, I was able to view the eBay auction. I was very proud of the incredibly good comments posted about our staff and their professionalism. Congratulations to everyone involved in the success of this transaction.

I do not know about you, but I am already preparing for the Western Region Credit Conference which is only a few weeks away. I know our staff and volunteers are working overtime to make this year’s conference a huge success. I hope you all get the opportunity to be there. There is an array of outstanding educational offerings, something for everyone. I also know that there will be much opportunity for great networking with old acquaintances as well as many opportunities to establish new friendships. So “Get on Track” and get to the Western Region Credit Conference by visiting our website: www.wrcc.biz today.

Until our paths cross again (at the Western Region Credit Conference????), be bold, be inventive and be leaders.
