NACM ELECTIONS FOR NATIONAL DIRECTOR

Kathleen Tomlin, CCE
Kathleen M. Tomlin, CCE is Regional Credit Manager for Hanson Aggregates Mid-Pacific and Hanson Permanente Cement—prominent building material suppliers of aggregates, ready-mix concrete, asphalt and cement—located in Northern and Central California, with an average monthly outstanding accounts receivable of $30 million. She is responsible for credit, collections and cash application for the Northern and Central Coast region.

Prior to entering the credit profession, Kathy held positions as a Financial Analyst and Cost Accountant for the Hanson company. She earned the CCE designation in 1998, and was also honored with the CMA Business Credit Services' Credit Executive of the Year for 1996-1997. She holds an MBA from St. Mary's College of California.

Kathy was elected to the CMA Business Credit Services Board in 1994 and has served as Director, Treasurer, Vice Chairman, Chairman-Elect, and recently completed her term as Chairman. Currently, she serves as Counselor. She believes the Affiliate's proudest achievement during her term as Chairman was the development and implementation of its web site; she both served and chaired the Service Committee and Strategic Planning Committee that enabled that accomplishment. Additionally, she is a CFDD member, and has served as the San Francisco chapter's Membership Chairman. Through CFDD's Mentor Me program, she volunteers to assist other credit professionals. She is a California Institute of Credit instructor and has been a frequent speaker for that association. She is also a member of D&B's Advisory Group.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Kathy is active in church and mission activities including orphanage work and construction projects; and has served many years as a Sunday School teacher. She is the Secretary for a traveling bowling club, has served as Area Registrar for the San Francisco Bay Area Girl Scouts, and is Past President of the local PTA.

Kathy believes that the greatest challenges facing the Affiliate Network today are retaining membership and the delivery of products and services.

Kathy's Statement:
I will use my abilities as a team player and leader to work with individuals and affiliates to develop and further programs and products that satisfy our members' needs. Through an effective Strategic Plan, these needs can be identified and addressed. In addition to developing or enhancing products and services, the method of delivery is critical. Technological advances must continue to be implemented. Allocation and use of financial and human resources should be analyzed and adjusted if necessary.

A wealth of talent exists within NACM. With teamwork, this talent can be focused on the wide variety of association offerings: professional designation, education, legislation, industry credit groups, credit reporting and collections. We need to encourage and foster an environment where people can participate and truly make a difference. Our association has a rich history. Very importantly, the NACM name is associated with integrity and quality. With strategic vision and positioning we can look forward to continuing and strengthening that legacy.

Tammi Russell, CCE
Tammi L. Russell, CCE is Credit Manager for KSL Television, KSL Radio and Bonneville Satellite in Salt Lake City. She is responsible for all areas of the credit function including management of four separate accounts receivable, invoicing, adjustments and bad debt collections, and supervision of employees in client relations and accounts receivable. Her 18 years with this 400-employee corporation has taught her that an individual and a company can meet the challenges of change and be very successful.

Tammi has been in the credit profession for 22 years. She earned her CCE in 1997 and graduated with Highest Distinction from the NACM Graduate School of Credit and Financial Management in 1999. Her efforts during Graduate School helped to earn the Best Team Paper at the 2000 Credit Congress.

In 2001, she was awarded NACM Business Credit Services' Credit Executive of the Year. Her education began with an Associate's Degree from Salt Lake Community College, but she states that the majority of her education came from the guidance of NACM Business Credit Services, SLC. She has no doubt that she would not be successful today without the services provided by NACM.

Tammi has served two terms on her local Board of Directors—one as Chairman and one as Counselor. She also served two terms on the Intermountain Credit Education League Board of Directors. During her 18- year membership, she has served on numerous Affiliate committees (two years as industry group chairman), presented at seminars, spoken at banquets, written and edited for Affiliate newsletters, has been an instructor for designation exam prep classes, and served three years on NACM-National's Graduate School Committee. She cites her involvement in, and the successful negotiation of a new Affiliate agreement and the strengthening of relations between local Affiliates and the National Board as one of her Board's greatest achievements during her service.

In addition to her professional career, Tammy has been active in community programs; including the 2002 Winter Olympics, Ballet West, Utah Figure Skating Association, United Way and March of Dimes.  Tammi believes that, with today's world of mergers and consolidations, the greatest challenge facing the Affiliate Network is retaining membership.

Tammi's Statement:
I believe leading the business credit profession, its organization and professionals in this ever-changing economic environment requires its leaders to be dedicated and educated servants. The most effective way to promote the vision and mission of NACM, is by finding what its members need to succeed in today's world and then serve that need to the best of our abilities. It is vital that we as an organization embrace the opportunities and challenges of change. As a national organization, NACM must tackle the difficult task of thinking globally, while not losing sight of our Affiliates and their needs. Our best promotion will always come from our membership, their Affiliates and the successes they achieve. The more successful our members and Affiliates become, can only serve to strengthen and better promote our National organization.

I am very fortunate to belong to a very successful affiliate in NACM Business Credit Services (Salt Lake City). I have seen first-hand what a strong Affiliate can do for its members. By our Affiliates serving and educating their members, they become stronger. By promoting and strengthening our Affiliates, we cannot help but succeed in the visions and mission of the NACM organization.
