Who Does the Credit Department Report To?
Who Does the Credit Department Report To?
A discussion from the anscers Community

by an anscers Community Member

The following question was posted recently to the anscers Community Bulletin Board:

“I would like to hear any feedback on whether Credit should be part of Finance, as Credit is unique in its way that it's a blend, with combination of Finance and Sales. Much emphasis recently has been placed by my CEO & change in the direction that the Credit Manager should now be reporting to the CEO, & not the CFO. There're also many organisations I've seen is becoming too ‘Finance Centric’ which affects the Company's business direction. Any comments? Would appreciate it.”

Response from a Community Member:

“I would welcome an opportunity to report to the CEO rather than to the CFO. To me, this says that the credit department is seen as an integral part of the company's infrastructure...and that senior management [specifically the CEO] feels so strongly about the importance of the credit function as it relates to the company meeting its short term and long term goals that he or she wants you, the credit manager to report to them.”
