Death Of Harold Holstead
Former Chief Elected Officer

IN MEMORIAM – HAROLD HOLSTEAD

Harold Holstead succumbed on July 28 to the cumulative effects of old age. He had been in ill health for some years and was 85 at the time of his death.

Harold initially worked for the old Brunswig Drug Co., but from 1950 until his retirement over 30 years later he was credit manager (and eventually a corporate officer) of Simon Levi Co., a major liquor and wine distributor in Southern California. Harold was a long-time member of CMA of Southern California and several times acted as chairman of the Distilled Spirits Credit Group.

Harold Holstead served as a Director and an elected Officer of CMA during the ‘60’s and was elected President for the fiscal year 1970-71. He later gained National office as a Director and moved on to become a Vice President for the Western Division [Region] of NACM. He retired from Simon Levi Co. in 1981. He loved to travel, although his decline in later years began with a stroke he suffered aboard a cruise ship in Montreal in 1989.

Harold is survived by his wife of many years, Clara, and a large and loving family. He will be missed by his many friends at CMA, and especially by those who enjoyed his company at the annual social affairs for former elected presidents and chairmen of the board.

Condolences may be addressed to: Mrs. Harold J. Holstead, 1233 Columbus Way, Vista, California 92081
