The bill as amended changes the limit to from $20,000 to $15,000. The limit refers to the original amount of the contract. If the contract is below that amount, if you file a mechanics' lien against a homeowner, the homeowner can set off against the lien amount the amount of "good-faith payments to the original contractor."
