You’ll be seeing stars. You’ll be star struck. There will be shooting stars, sparkling stars, shining stars and star attractions when Fashion by Design RISING STAR 2009 Runway Gala shimmers at Mercedes-Benz of Westminster on Friday evening, October 23. Stardom and luxury embrace fashion!
The fifth Biannual RISING STAR is a signature event of Fashion Group International of Denver to raise funds for fashion student scholarships and education outreach programs in Colorado. From a field of 12 category winners, THE Rising Star was chosen by a distinguished panel of judges and will be revealed at the gala. All will be honored in Academy Awards style followed by a fashion show of their creations on a runway spanning the entire length of the dealership’s west wing.
A red carpet reception and silent auction begins at 6:00 PM followed by the awards ceremony, fashion show and dessert buffet. Gourmet hors d’oeuvres and decadent treats will be served throughout the evening from Occasions By Sandy, caterer to the stars.

Fashion Group International is a global nonprofit organization of industry professionals with 5,000 members connecting worldwide experience. Elizabeth Arden, Helena Rubenstein, Eleanor Roosevelt, Edna Woolman Chase, Carmel Snow, Edith Head and others with early fashion careers in New York City founded FGI in 1930. These legendary figures left an indelible print on the American fashion landscape. Fashion Group International of Denver celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2008.
