2006 was a busy year for Ampro as we continued to expand our product lines and now offer a suite of industrial computers, three different XTX Computer-On-Module products and an EPIC Panel PC.
During the past year, not only has the product line grown, but Ampro itself has expanded. Our staff has increased to ensure our products are the best in the industry and that proper support is available when required.
Look to Ampro in 2007 to further expand our product offering. In the upcoming months, we will introduce a new module product, an upgrade to one of our existing rugged PC/104 products and a new Panel PC.

Would you trust your embedded system with a desktop quality board? It’s not just about hardware – the question pertains equally to operating system and BIOS quality. Office workers might find it mildly annoying to reboot their PC when it locks up, but for embedded applications, that type of behavior is completely unacceptable.
Ampro addresses this problem with embedded BIOS and embedded quality board support packages (BSPs). Our dedicated software engineers are assigned to developing each BSP rather than using existing desktop software. This advanced technology single board computer (SBC) will allow embedded system manufacturers to greatly improve graphics, communications, and data processing bandwidth while reducing overall system footprint. This product complements Ampro's existing PCI Express Computer-on-Module product line (XTX form factor) for applications that do not need a custom carrier board, using Intel® processors to 2.0GHz with PCI Express™ graphics and I/O, Gigabit Ethernet, Serial ATA (SATA) storage, USB 2.0, up to 2GB DDR2 RAM, and ACPI power management. In addition, Ampro's ReadySystem™ computer includes this board for ready-to-run applications.
For very small applications, the ReadyBoard 820 implements high CPU and I/O performance in a mere 115mm x 165mm (4.5" x 6.5") size, 34% smaller than the Mini-ITX form factor. Processors up to 1.8GHz Pentium M 745 are offered with the Intel 915GM chipset and up to 2GB DDR2 400 SODIMM RAM. I/O support includes (4) USB 2.0 ports, (2) Serial ATA ports, EIDE, Intel 82573 PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet, 10/100 Ethernet with Wake on LAN support, LVDS, (2) UART serial ports, (8) general-purpose I/O (GPIO) pins, and integrated chipset graphics. ACPI power management and RoHS compliance are also important attributes. Three lanes of PCI Express are provided for high-speed I/O expansion, whether in the form of Gigabit Ethernet ports or custom I/O, allowing customization with simple I/O card designs rather than full custom baseboards and power supply circuitry.
The ReadyBoard 820 is already making news. Electronic Design reporter William Wong recently wrote, "This Pentium M-based platform fits into the same space as the EPIC standard, but it swaps the large PC/104 Plus expansion connectors with a tiny PCI Express connector. Even so, a single PCI Express lane brings more bandwidth to the table than an entire PC/104 stack."
