TIP: In addition to using the Web App Server for web applications, our
customers are also using the Web App Server over their LAN to build “thin client”
browser based applications or to extend their desktop applications to users who do
not have Alpha Five installed. If you have a desktop application, and you want
additional people in your office (or remote users who you authorize) to gain access
to some of the data in your applications, but they don't necessarily need your
entire application, this is a great solution. All they need is a web browser to use
the screens you build for them - even MAC or Linux based web browsers will work. An

Few people know more about Xbasic than Dr. Peter Wayne. His book, Xbasic for Everyone, is an excellent tool for learning or refining your Xbasic skills. (It's available for sale on the Alpha Software website - and sections of it will be featured in upcoming newsletters.)
In this newsletter, we have a PDF from Dr. Wayne showing you how he solved a real-world medical billing problem by creating a highly customized report. The report uses two little known features of Alpha Five: the report's OnRecord event and collections, which are arrays that use characters instead of numbers in their indices.
