“I have been an independent full-time for only eight months, although I have been in consulting in one form or another for 20 years. If my experience remains as good as this one, being an a-connect IP could be the cornerstone of my career going forward.” M.E.B., IP since 2005

Developed a worldwide HR strategy for a leading U.S.-based private equity company, enabling them to support their fast international growth (Elisabeth Glas)

The client was facing the typical HR challenges when transforming from a small player to a fast-growing international company: how to define clear responsibilities for HR vs. line management? What should be globally standardized, what locally differentiated? How to best uplift HR from execution to driving strategic development? Our IP, an experienced HR specialist with top-tier strategy consulting and executive search experience, conducted interviews with key internal decision makers to understand the client’s current HR processes and compiled an overview of best practices. Together with the client, the IP assessed different types of HR models and distilled a customized Talent Management model that produced the best fit with the client’s business needs as well as with its working culture. In order to make the implementation of the new organization as smooth as possible, the IP provided a detailed implementation plan covering target processes and organization as well as an assessment of skill requirements and current skill gaps.

International business building for a global financial services institution (Silke-Susann Otto)

A team of a-connect IPs recently supported a global financial services institution to grow its international wealth management business. In the initial phase a-connect helped the client to prepare and conduct a strategy workshop to assess the attractiveness of selected markets and the fit of the client’s capabilities within these markets (customer base, distribution, etc.). Once the decision was taken as to which market to enter, a feasibility study was conducted in a second project phase. The objective here was to develop a viable business model, taking into consideration the regulatory environment in the market as well as client-internal capabilities and organizational issues. Based on the previous findings the team wrote a detailed business plan for the selected market in the third phase of the project that would enable the client to start setting up the operations immediately. This included developing a distinct value proposition for all target customer segments based on focus groups, defining effective distribution channels, deriving underlying assumptions for the financial model, building the model, identifying KPIs and defining the infrastructure requirements.
