Don"t miss the Basin Harbor Fly-In this weekend. See below for details and the sidebar for directions. Hope to see you all there!
Peter Kallander, Director and Basin Harbor coordinator.
"Wings, wheels, and keels" has become a tradition! This year's Basin Harbor fly-in will take place later than usual, on September 15. Fly in to the putting-green grass strip and automatically be judged for the spot landing contest (there's no escaping it). Representatives from aircraft companies will show their latest wares and may offer test rides. Don't miss the Cirrus SR-22! And an FAA safety seminar on mountain flying will be offered throughout the day. Dick Bicknell reports the FAA safety seminar this year will be, "Spatial Disorientation" together with their spinning chair-an unforgettable experience.
Basin Harbor is a beautiful place for a September weekend; come up a day or two early and enjoy the golf, canoes, bicycles and, walking along Lake Champlain (you'll also avoid the spot landing.
Contact Basin Harbor directly to reserve a room in the main hotel or one of the cottages scattered along the lake shore and golf course. If you reserve now, there's a 2-night minimum. A one-night stay is possible for reservations made after Labor Day. Go to the http://www.basinharbor.com Basin Harbor web site for rates, availability, and reservations.
