Welcome to the new Aero Club of New England electronic newsletter, a new membership benefit. It is your club and this is your newsletter. We plan on bringing this to you on a periodic basis, which will all be dependent upon available time. It is our method of readily communicating with you. We eagerly look forward to feedback from you in the form of comments and constructive criticism. We are thick-skinned, so do not feel that you must hold back. However, we at least ask that take the time to complete the questionnaire (see sidebar) that is within this first edition and to that end, I will personally offer a prize to the person who submits the winning suggestion for a name for future editions of this publication. Comments and suggestions relating to same will be welcome - - please send them to me at mailto:dgraham@ekmail.com or to Gary P. Kearney, our able webmaster at(mailto:gpk@tiac.net) at your earliest convenience. In the first order of business, I do not want this day to slip by without acknowledging the strong and dedicated efforts of our immediate past President, David G. Margolis. During his "watch", David has constantly demonstrated his willingness to roll up his sleeves in the area of leadership, to tackle whatever task needed to be accomplished in the interest of making the day-to-day operations of the club move ahead in a smooth and orderly fashion. I have come to gain the utmost respect for David Margolis and for the vast amount of high quality time he has placed into it all. I know that David, an Air Force guy, won't mind it if a Navy guy extends to him a hale and hearty "Bravo Zulu",Navy lingo for "Well Done". The late Arthur Knapp once said (in as many words) that a good leader is one who doesn't bully his/her way around but quietly slips his/her agenda forward so that all the members are in accord with his/her proposals for what needs to be accomplished. I like that and to the extent that I have been able to bring this format to the table with previous organizations, I shall attempt to do same for the Aero Club of New England.
At long-last, the Aero Club of New England has acquired a home-office. In a
short time, we will be moving our stored equipment into a small but secure
office space at the Hanscom Field terminal building, where we shall also be storing much of our memorabilia. Meanwhile, if there are artifacts or
related aeronautical material that you would like to donate or long-term-loan to a safe, climate controlled home, I can assure you that we would be delighted to accept whatever you may have. Please contact me at 617/241-4209). Please join us at our summer Katama and fall Basin Harbour Fly-ins (see sidebar for details).
