Have Underwriting, Will Travel
by Prudential
Effective April 25, 2005, Prudential is revising its underwriting guidelines for clients who plan to travel to foreign countries for short durations. With this revision, clients who plan to travel to foreign countries for four weeks or less annually (for business or pleasure) may now be eligible for all of Prudential’s Preferred Underwriting categories. This revision does not apply to foreign countries Prudential considers to be extremely hazardous. This means Prudential’s best rates may now be available to many individuals who previously didn’t qualify.
Please refer to the Foreign Travel Highlighter (IFS-A094374) and the Foreign Country Rating Chart (IFS-A079047) for further details, or call Prudential to see if your client qualifies for our new short-duration foreign travel underwriting guidelines. The following is a list of the few locations Prudential considers to be extremely hazardous (list is current as of April 2005 and is subject to change at the discretion of Prudential). Travel to these locations for any duration will be declined:
- Afghanistan
- Algeria (Southeast/Sahara Desert Regions)
- Angola
- Burundi
- Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast)
- Haiti
- Indonesia
- Iraq
- Kyrgyzistan (Kyrgyz Republic)
- North Korea
- Somalia
- Sudan
- Vietnam (Hua Giang, Tien Giang and TraVinh Provinces)
- West Bank and Gaza Strip
- Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo)
