The Siena Community is sad to announce the passing of Connie Owens, former director of postal services.
Connie was a one-of-a-kind personality who spent 36 years dedicated to Siena College, our students, alumni, faculty, staff and friars. For many, she was their "campus mom," ensuring they did not get overly home sick, providing guidance, and encouraging them to do and be their best. The relationships Connie built lasted years and you could see the pride in her eyes when former students returned to campus- and they did return to see her!
Connie will be missed by many from the Siena Community. We all pray the Lord will welcome her into His kingdom with open arms, just as Connie welcomed so many to Siena College. May she rest in peace.

Constance A. Owens
Owens, Constance A. WATERVLIET Constance A. Maron Owens, 71, died Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Born in Albany on September 11, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Veronica Pendergast Maron. Mrs. Owens was raised in Watervliet and was a graduate of St. Brigid's School and Catholic Central High School in Troy. Constance was employed at one time by the NY Telephone Co. before raising her family. For 36 years, she was employed as the director of postal services at Siena College from 1969-2005 before retiring. In 1990, Constance was bestowed the honor of becoming an affiliate of the Holy Name Province of the Order of Friars Minor. She enjoyed traveling especially to Maine but, most importantly, she loved being with her family. She was the wife of the late Peter J. Owens, who died in 1983; devoted mother of Martin R. (Carol Schongar) Owens of Rensselaer and Matthew P. (Jennifer Dignum) Owens of Loudonville; sister of Pauline (late Robert) Bartlett of Watervliet and Philip (Patricia) Maron; also survived by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Friday at 9:15 a.m. from the Parker Bros. Memorial, 2013 Broadway, Watervliet and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Brigid's Church, 7th Street and 4th Avenue, Watervliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by the Franciscan Friars from Siena College. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Menands. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made out to Siena College for the Terence McShane Scholarship Fund, 515 Loudon Road, Loudonville, NY 12211.
