Alumni Sports Weekend 2006- Canceled
Construction to begin on new turf field!
We are excited to announce that the construction of Siena's first artificial turf field will begin in September. Due to construction, several of our athletic fields will be "off line" this fall. This impacts our ability to schedule fields for the Annual Alumni Sports Weekend. We have decided to cancel the weekend for 2006. We look forward to welcoming our former student athletes back in 2007 when the turf field is completed.
We are finalizing plans to have the Hall of Fame Induction and Reception in October. Please stay tuned for the details.

Give the Gift of Time
Siena Annual Fund’s On-Campus Volunteer Phon-A-Thon
As you know, we surpassed the 2005-2006 Annual Fund total by nearly $55,000 for a total of $1,554,912. We are all proud of the effort put forth by the Annual Fund staff, student callers and our alumni & parent volunteers. Every individual plays an important role in ensuring the success of the Annual Fund.
As always, we need our Albany area alumni to continue their involvement in our volunteer phon-a-thon. This year, we’ll be calling the last two weeks of September. Please contact Mike Buckley in the Annual Fund Office at mbuckley@siena.edu or (518) 783-2461 for more information. As always, dinner and revelry will be provided!!!
This is another great way for you to support your alma mater!

New legislation makes it easier to donate money to charity from IRAs
USA Today 8/21/2006
New legislation makes it easier to donate money to charity from IRAs
Leaving money to charity when you die is a noble and selfless act. But giving money away while you're still alive is a lot more satisfying.
A provision in the pension reform legislation President Bush signed last week will make it easier for older people to donate money in their individual retirement accounts to charity. The provision, which is effective only for 2006 and 2007, allows individuals who are 70½ or older to take tax-free withdrawals from their IRAs as long as that money goes directly to charity.
