Siena College Presents: Into
the Woods
Theatre Students Perform Stephen
Sondheim Classic Under Direction of Tony Rivera
Cohoes
Music Hall Managing Director Tony Rivera joins Siena’s Creative Arts Department
and theatre group, Stage III for the College’s production of Into the Woods.
Rivera
combines years of performing and directing experience to bring Stephen
Sondheim’s twisted fairy tale to life on stage at Siena.
“We’ve got a dynamite cast of 21 students who have been
chomping at the bit to do a Broadway musical for the past couple of
years. Tony has a remarkable ability to combine a very supportive teaching
style with a demand for the kind of professionalism you see at Cohoes. Our
students are getting a great experience, and it’s going to be a really fun
show,” said Dean of Liberal Arts, Ralph Blasting.
Students
play cockeyed characters including a blood thirsty Little Red Riding Hood and a
Prince Charming with a roving eye.
Find out
what happens when a baker and his wife swindle and steal from some of the most
famous fairy tale characters of all time in hopes of breaking a spell cast by
the witch living next door. What begins as a lively irreverent fantasy, becomes
a moving lesson about community responsibility and the stories we tell our children.
