Last year, you may have been watching the parade on TV or possibly cheering and clapping when you saw the Siena banner and we all appreciated the encouragement. This year, the parade is on a Saturday and we are hoping you will come out and join us. Some of the alumni come a little early and reminisce in one of the establishments near the start of the parade. Some stay after the parade and meet in one of the Irish pubs. Some bring their kids and exit the parade at the playground in Central Park. Some march all the way to the finish line but they all enjoy the excitement of the day.
We are still waiting to hear about our "line up" informationand will pass it along as soon as possible. In previous years, we started marching around noon and were fortunate enough to have an excellent band right in front of us to provide the Irish music and we hope they are there again this year. Everyone who marches needs to have the same "uniform," which, for the Siena crew, is a Siena College Gaelic Society t-shirt. The shirts can be purchased for $10 at the "line up."
Come out and enjoy the day! Everyone is Irish on March 17. Please RSVP toalumni@siena.edu if you think you'll be marching so we can be sure to have enough t-shirts on hand at the parade.
One last word of caution: if you are on the east side, leave plenty of time to get across Fifth Avenue. ERIN GO BRAGH!
