Mainframe Migration Alliance Assists Customers Looking to Move Off the Mainframe
Fujitsu Consulting part of 21-member community of software vendors and service providers

PHOENIX -- Sept. 28, 2004 -- From Gartner Inc.'s Application Development Summit, the Mainframe Migration Alliance (MMA) today announced the expansion of the alliance with new members and the launch of the organization's community Web site aimed at sharing best practices and providing resources to customers migrating their mainframe environments to the Microsoft® Windows Server (TM) platform. New members including Covansys Corp., Fujitsu Software Corp., Getronics NV, Information Analysis Inc. (IAI), M2O Ltd., Modis Inc., MSS International, NetManage Inc., ObjectStar International Ltd., Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Tata Infotech Ltd. and Transoft join existing alliance members CGI Group Inc., Cognizant Technology Solutions Corp., EDS, Fujitsu Consulting, Micro Focus International Ltd., Microsoft Corp., Satyam Computer Services Ltd., Sonata Software Ltd. and Sophisticated Business Systems Inc. Companies quite frequently run into technology barriers imposed by the continued use of aging IT infrastructure. For various reasons, corporations often avoid modernizing. At one point or another, people responsible for making IT buying decisions are all faced with what they feel is a tough decision: to modernize or not. By the time I'm done speaking with these people, I've essentially delivered two much-need services—that of an IT consultant and that of a mental health therapist. However, after we address the misconceptions that held them back from modernizing, a look of relief often appears on their faces. The myths about modernizing are so pervasive —and so potentially damaging to the business—that I feel obliged to dispel at least a few of them.
